I must say its dope when a incredible artist comes with a ill concept. Chace Infinite is a member of Self Scientific along with DJ Khalil and Khalil has become a mainstay for other artists looking for beats. He has produced some of the hottest joints out recently leaving us of us to wonder what these beats would have sounded like as Self Scientific tracks. No longer a need to question that because Chace has decided to go in on some of the hottest beats DJ Khalil gave other artists in his new mixtape properly titled “I Would Have Killed This.” keep checking his blog for the full length mixtape until then heres a sample of what to expect with Chace going in over the Kinda Like A Big Deal beat below and if you dont know about Self scientific..please educate yourself believe me they are dope.

By now you probably heard all about the D.O.A. track from Jay-Z and I must admit he went in on this joint. I, an avid autotune hater, am glad to see it coming to an end and with Jay’s track it most certainly will. I wonder what T-pain has to say about this joint though…things that make you hmmm?Jay-Z- Death of Autotune

DE LA SOUL & NIKE

Posted in African American issues, Life, Neglected sound, buzz, film, hip-hop, mixtapes, music, politics, videos with tags , , , , , , on June 5, 2009 by neglectedsound

Can hip hop and commercialism go hand and hand? Will there always be this need for rebellion in hip hop? These are questions that “us” as golden era hip hop listeners have to address when we got hyped about Public Enemy criticizing Nike in “Shut Em Down” then cringed at the image of Rakim on Hennessey banners. Where is the line drawn? Well here comes another grey area on the line De La Soul the most innovative, creative never mainstream group of all time has linked with Nike’s Original R-U-N series to make an album, which is already available, for runners through Nike’s Sportmusic program. Is it something new and creative or is it tainted and other example of the mainstream taking from hip hop again to manipulate consumers? I am personally a huge De La fan so it was a little thrown off for me but if anybody can do this and stay true its De La and props to NIke for at least picking true school emcees to do this project when it could have easily went with a more today’s relevant artist. Tell me what you think about the collabo or the project..AbdulWaahid

FiNALLY the video for Brother Ali’s song “GOOD LORD” was released by three21media recently and it was well worth the wait. This is by far one of my favorite songs and the video which was directed by Rik Cordero is a beautiful expression of the personality of Muslims and really showed a side of Muslims rarely seen in mainstream media. Brother Ali’s music is truly an inspiration to many and an incredible lyricist so check out the video and cop The Truth Is Here EP in stores now.
